The Scoop

Global Osmosis is an exploration of ethnography. It's a blog-to-be-media project dedicated to storytelling, people and places.

In 2008 I participated in the University of Virginia's Semester at Sea program, in which I lived and studied aboard a ship, porting in 10 countries around the globe. It was a 4-month period of my life when I had no conception of time or consistent sense of place. It was colorful and intriguing and overwhelming and exciting and exhausting and humbling. It was overstimulating.
It was transformative.

I say often that the trip turned me into a writer -I wrote in a journal constantly, possibly to compensate for how quickly the time of my life was passing by. Now nearly two years later, I'm still sifting through scribbled pages and extracting the travel stories that comprise Global Osmosis.

Thank you for reading. I hope you get the travel bug, too.
